Over 100 church and community children age 3-9 and 65 youth and adult volunteers joined together to learn how to love their neighbors during our VBS entitled "Who is my Neighbor?" Studying Bible stories each day, the children were given practical ways to put show love to their neighbors. Children decorated over 150 "kindness" rocks with messages of joy and love to be spread around our community for people to find. We raised money to buy an alpha spirometer for Barnabas to serve our neighbors who come to the medical clinic. On Wednesday, Barnabas partnered with the Amelia Makery to bring ceramic bowls, paint, and brushes for the children to use to paint bowls for Barnabas' annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser. To end the week, the VBS children learned how to bake cookies and on Friday gave away 400 cookies to our neighboring businesses and to the people who walked, or drove, by our church, each bag of cookies adorned with a tag that said "thanks for being our neighbor". As VBS was happening on campus at Memorial, Mission Camp engaged 27 5th and 6th grade students in service projects in our community. In addition to painting bowls for Barnabas, Mission Campers made cupcakes for Gracie's Kitchen to serve our hungry neighbors in Yulee and they weeded the yard at the Women's Club in Fernandina.
