Preparing for Worship This Sunday, April 5th, 2020

We are joining together again for worship over Facebook Live this Sunday at 11:00AM. As you prepare for worship, we remind you to grab a candle, have a Bible opened to Matthew 21 and get comfortable. This week is also palm Sunday and we will have Holy Communion. If you have a palm branch in your yard, have one with you for worship. Also, gather some juice and bread or crackers for Holy Communion.

Opening Prayer:

Leader: Our Lord entered the gates of the Holy City.

People: Crowds shouted his praise and waved palm branches.

Leader: But within the bounds of the city there were those who feared him

People: Even on this day, there are those who let fear claim their lives.

Leader: Lord, enter our lives this day with your healing presence.

People: Be with us as we march with you toward the cross. AMEN.

Songs:

Holy, Holy, Holy

Holy, Holy, Holy,
Holy, Holy, Holy,
Holy is the Lord, God Al-mighty.

Worthy to receive glory,
Worthy to receive honor,
Worthy to receive all our praise to-day.

Praise Him, praise Him and lift Him up;
Praise Him, exalt His name forever.
Praise Him, praise Him and lift Him up;
Praise Him, exalt His name forever.

(Repeat all from top)

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee;
holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, Holy, Holy

Holy, Holy, Holy

Holy, Holy, Holy

CONFESSION AND PARDON

ALL: Merciful God, we confess that we have

not loved you with our whole heart.

We have failed to be an obedient church.

We have not done your will,

   we have broken your law,

we have rebelled against your love,

we have not loved our neighbors,

and we have not heard the cry of the needy.

Forgive us, we pray,

   free us for joyful obedience,

through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Pastor: Hear the good news:  Christ died for us while we were yet sinners; that proves God’s love toward us.  In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!

ALL:  In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING

Pastor: The Lord be with you.

ALL: And also with you.

Pastor: Lift up your hearts.

ALL: We lift them up to the Lord

Pastor: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

ALL: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

    Pastor’s Liturgy

Pastor: And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven  We praise your name and join their unending hymn:

ALL: Holy, holy, holy Lord,

God of power and might,

Heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

Pastor’s Liturgy

Pastor: And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ,  we offer ourselves in praise and Thanksgiving as a holy and  living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s offering for us, as we  proclaim the mystery of faith.

ALL: Christ has died; Christ is Risen; Christ will come again

Pastor: Pour out your Holy spirit on us gathered here, and on these gifts of bread and wine. Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ, that we may be for the world the body of Christ, redeemed by his blood. By your Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world, until Christ comes in final victory, and we feast at his heavenly banquet. Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy church, all honor and glory is yours, almighty God, now and forever.

ALL: Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

ALL: Our father, who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done.

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us,

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power,

and the glory, forever. Amen
