This week Pastor Rachel started her maternity leave – she will be off now until Sunday, June 9th. At the time of writing this Pastor's Note we have not yet heard any news of baby’s arrival but rest assured that we will let you know when we find anything out and have permission to share the news. In the meantime. I know you will be praying for Rachel, Nick, and Austin as their family of three becomes a family of four.
Our Lenten journey this year has been great so far. As is our habit, we have joined with most of our fellow downtown churches to have noon-time services each Wednesday. If you have not been able to make it to one yet, I highly recommend them as an excellent opportunity to gather with our brothers and sisters from First Presbyterian, Trinity UMC, and St. Peter’s Episcopal Churches. They really are an encouraging and uplifting time together.
The other highlight of our Lenten journey has been our Wesley Wednesday Night Dinner and Lesson sessions. Each week we have enjoyed a wonderful meal (seriously – the food has been really good!!), great fellowship, and a teaching and discussion time focusing on one of the Means of Grace. So far, we have been learning about the importance of hymn-singing, bible reading, and prayer as means of drawing close to God in the Wesleyan Way. This coming Wednesday we will learn about the important place of the sacraments in our connection with Christ. It’s going to be another great time, and it is never too late to join in, so why not plan on joining us for the last couple of sessions. You’ll be glad you did!
As always, there is lots going on at Memorial – so many ways for you to connect with God, grow in faith, and live out your calling!
See you Sunday!
Pastor Charlie
